It lives

Senate Bill 6116 lives:
    2010 REGULAR SESSION

Jan 11  By resolution, reintroduced and retained in present status.

So, 5 minutes before the end of the last session ended they recall bills to thier last committee, Rules Committee, and reinstate those bills at the beginning of the session. So, lots of bills were reintroduced, and are back in play.

I have a bill tracker email alert set up, if this moves, I'll find out. You know, this could sit there for 55 days and get sent back to the floor. My guess is that this could be a Christmas Tree

Alright, I think another trip to Olympia is in order.

Who wants to go?

Wait until the February revenue forcast is released for widespread communication.
Lining up the mayor, the county exec, and the bill sponsors could be done anytime.

This bill could become a Christmas tree fir the city, and county, and that is a good thing right now.
Mass transit junkies need a revenue source, tourist infrastructure that supports walking and biking in the county is a pretty easy sell.

That is my advice.

Oh, a Christmas Tree, in the classic sense, is a bill that is intended for one thing, but legislatores along the way hang amendments on the bill that have nothing to do with the original intent of the bill, like Christmas decorations.

This bill was a ready made Christmas tree, pre-fab, it showed up with a variety of things hung on it. The original taxes were for the King Dome and Safeco.

The downside to the Christmas Tree is that it may have different things, reasons for different people to support it, but also has just as many reasons for other people to not like it.

Did you know that there was a Washington State Legislature Heritage Caucus?

And, Lynn Kessler is the House Dem co-chair?

It is ok if you did nit know that, most people don't. When I send Kessler and her co-chair Senate Republican Jim Honeyford (he is on the Senate Ways & Means Committee) emails in support of "Heritage" bills like 6116 (and the house version last year, 2252) I never mention KeyArena, or Seattle, just their Heritage orniment.

Frank Chopp is a proponent of low income housing, that is why the house bill was written the way it was. I encourage Speaker Chopp to support the Senate version.

Lots of people, lots of orniments.

Btw, it is easy to do without bullshitting people if you actually care about the subject.

The short term health and human services for King County is a need.

I agree, we do need a lot to fix up our city and county. A lot wrong with it though.

Thanks for all the info though. I love the term Christmas tree.
